Greetings Family, Friends and Supporters-
Today is a big day for Hoa and me. It is Hoa’s 30th birthday and our 1st anniversary. We celebrated our marriage a year ago in Viet Nam surrounded by friends and family. Little did we know w
hat was to come. It has been a difficult year but one that has given us the strength to withstand tremendous circumstances. [In order to keep our hearts light, Hoa and I joke that the way to make it through the first year of marriage is to spend 9 weeks of it apart.] We look back and think of how blessed we are to have had such encouraging support throughout this ordeal and we look forward to being able to move on with our lives.
As far as moving forward, we have applied for Hoa’s Green Card, which will allow us to be together in the U.S should it be granted. If it is granted, then Hoa will not have to deport to Viet Nam, and we will be able to continue with our lives as we choose. The deportation order still stands, but we are hopeful that the Green Card interview and subsequent adjustment of status will come through before that is necessary. To our understanding, the interview should happen before the end of March.
Your continued support, encouragement and prayers are much appreciated and have helped greatly. We know that our second year of married life will be easier, the third more so, and perhaps we’ll be down right dull by year four
We will keep you posted with updates as we know of them or ways you could help. We hope this finds you doing well in the New Year and enjoying time with loved ones.
Warmly,
Dan and Hoa

Hoa ~ Happy Birthday!
And, we are so happy that you and Dan are spending your 1st Anniversary together!! The fourth anniversary may seem dull. We suggest you watch out whenever your first child gets married or your 32nd Anniversary
…which ever comes first.
hugs to both of you ~ Connie & Mike
Congratulations to you and Hoa on the first anniversary. You made it! Surely the nightmares you went through made the occasion ever more cherished and meaningful.

Thank you so much for this update, Hoa and Dan. I’ve been wondering how you were. Hoa, are you still wearing that gorgeous government-issued ankle bracelet? I sure hope not, but I think you probably are. After all, you’re such a dangerous person! Ha!
Happy anniversary to you! The first year of marriage is a rough one, and I think you two can attest to that. Hopefully things will just get better and better. And then you get old.
Just kidding!
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Congratulations Hoa and Dan–
Its wonderful that you are together! on this 1st anniversary.
And happy birthday, Hoa.
I remember when we celebrated your 25th birthday. It was really fun, and perhaps a bit too rambunctious.
thank you for the updates!
Happy Birthday Hoa!! Happy 1st Anniversary Hoa and Dan! How wonderful you can be together for these two important events and we pray that the rest of your days will be together as well. It’s been a very long first year with so many challenges but what an excellent team you have made through the storm. We pray for more good news. Best wishes, Sally and David Sloop
Happy Anniversary! First anniversary traditional present: paper. Green: a slang term for something made out of paper. Card: also made out of paper. It must be so. We wish you a wonderful anniversary and all the good luck you deserve in the coming year. xx
Hoa and Dan,
I thought of you yesterday so I came to your website. I’m glad to read about your greencard interview; my husband and I went through that slightly over a year ago. Please make sure you have originals and xerox copies of all documentation…while they didn’t look at much of ours, they may want to see, and maybe even keep, a lot of your papers considering the circumstances. Happy Belated birthday and anniversary! Happy you are home together.
