On Friday, August 14, 2009, our good friend Hoa Nguyen was detained by U.S. Immigration officers and is now detained in Sherburne County Jail. See her full story: Hoa’s Story.
This website is dedicated to providing the information and methods to help Hoa and her husband Dan during this difficult period. Our hope is that she will be able to stay here with her husband, family, and friends, and that she will not be unfairly deported or detained longer. She is a generous, compassionate, and wonderful friend who does not deserve what has happened to her.
Hi Dan and Hoa,
Thanks for getting this website up so we can be informed as we continue to pray for your release. We would love to be able to help in any way so please let us know if there is something else we can do. We love you both!

How can we help her?
Dear Dan and Hoa,
I am shocked to read about Hoa’s arrest. I am so very sorry. I will pray for her release. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do. Thank you for putting this website together to inform us all. I am here to help in anyway that I can.
Hi Hoa and Dan-
I’m a fellow Norse who found your information from friends on Facebook.
Wanted to give you a heads up that I’m contacting local MSP and national news sources with your story. Maybe one of them will pick it up and skyrocket support for you.
Stay strong, I have you in my thoughts!
Dan and Hoa,
We are supporting you in all ways,
for always!
Love, Mom and Dad
Dearest Hoa,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you constantly. Your letter only confirms what a strong, courageous, and beautiful person you are. Don’t worry…….everything will work out very soon.
Hugs,
Jenny & Sanjaya
Hoa, You guys are in my thoughts and prayers, this must be such a difficult time for both of you and over such a silly mistake! I know things will work out soon, Dan wouldn’t let you miss a Thanksgiving at Peg’s!
Thinking of you often,
Laura
Dan and Hoa,
We are praying for you, I will read more on how we can help.
Hoa, I was shocked to read about everything that’s happening with you. It’s a surprise that even though you married Dan (who is a US Citizen), you had to face such immigration issues. I hope and pray things work out for you soon.
Your situation just angers me more. Everyone keeps talking about paving the way for citizenship for illegal immigrants who jump the lines and come to this country, but no one cares about legal immigrants like us. It’s just absurd!
I will continue praying for your release. Take care.
-Saima
Dear Hoa,
I hope this nightmare comes to an end soon. You are in my thoughts and have my support.

Your story is touching and I feel for the two of you, as well as your family. They are making an example out of Hoa’s case. Hopefully this will encourage everyone to take a closer look at their paperwork.
